My problem was not in not knowing; my problem was I did not have the time to bother with the proper care. I was riding multiple days in a row and sometimes more than once in a day (they were short segments, but still). With only a couple sets of riding gear, I sometimes just had to wear the same clothes that I rolled in the PO bushes with earlier.
